Got a Tip?

‘For All Mankind’ Teaser: Creator Ronald D. Moore Gives A Peek At Upcoming Apple TV+ Series About An Alternate Reality ‘60s Space Race

It’s the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing in 1969. And no, we’re not going to entertain the idea that this is all some sort of large conspiracy that was created by NASA with the help of Stanley Kubrick. Even though that’s a great story, this is a time when we celebrate one of humanity’s greatest achievements. And in the new series “For All Mankind,” we take a look at the famous 1960s Space Race, but with a different outcome.

The new series, which is scheduled to debut on Apple TV+ (the tech company’s new streaming service) sometime later this year, tells the story of the Apollo missions, but as we play catch up instead of leading the way. In this reality, the Russians made it to the moon before the US and because of that, America never slowed down its space exploration and discovery.

“For All Mankind” posits a world where the US remained determined to expand NASA and its space program instead of being happy with just being the first to the moon. The series stars Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Wrenn Schmidt, Shantel VanSanten, Sarah Jones, and Jodi Balfour.

“For All Mankind” debuts on Apple TV+ sometime this fall, after the streaming service actually launches.

Here’s the synopsis:

For All Mankind is created by Emmy® Award winner Ronald D. Moore (Outlander, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica), Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi. Told through the lives of NASA astronauts, engineers and their families, For All Mankind presents an aspirational world where NASA and the space program remained a priority and a focal point of our hopes and dreams.
