Oh right, “Monster Trucks.” I have to be honest, I sort of forgot/didn’t care that this movie was happening. And considering it shot way back in 2014, and was originally supposed to come out last year, perhaps it’s not a surprise it fell off the radar. But indeed, it’s on the way, and it looks pretty batshit.
Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley, and Thomas Lennon were all somehow convinced by their agents to star in this movie from Chris Wedge, the director of “Ice Age,” about a creature that looks like Flubber who makes trucks go real fast and jump and stuff. I can’t even. Here’s the synopsis:
Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend. Melding cutting edge visual effects and state-of-the-art CGI, Monster Trucks is an action filled adventure for the whole family that will keep you on the edge of your seat and ultimately touch your heart.
“Monster Trucks” opens on January 13, 2017.
Very high Paramount Exec: “Uhm… Well, alright then. The truck’s a monster or whatever. Cool beans, Chris Wedge, cool beans. Let’s Greenlight this bad boy! No way it doesn’t land.”
Don’t say “…and stuff.” Just say “…a creature that looks like Flubber who makes trucks go real fast and jump.”
