With considerable hubbub raised for Terry Gilliam‘s “The Zero Theorem” in recent weeks thanks to some substantial footage leaking online and word from the director himself that his film would be appearing in competition at the upcoming Venice Film Festival, the buzz continues to grow.
And thus today the first official images have arrived online, via Empire. While they keep Christoph Waltz mostly distant, even with two similar shots from different angles, it does open another eye on what is certainly a very colorful futureworld from Gilliam. And comparisons have easily been drawn to his the filmmakers’ seminal “Brazil“—with both movies centering on absurd bureaucracy to one degree or another—and Gilliam seems to welcome it. “It’s not really sci-fi,” he told the maagazine. “It’s like ‘Brazil,’ which also isn’t really sci-fi.”
The picture will also feature appearances from Melanie Thierry, Matt Damon, Tilda Swinton, Ben Whishaw and more. No distributors or release date so you probably won’t see this until 2014. But here’s another look.
