You can keep your Dark Knights and your Prometheuses because there's nothing we're looking forward to in the coming year more than "Cogan's Trade," the long-awaited third film from Australian helmer Andrew Dominik. The director showed an inordinate amount of promise with his debut, "Chopper," which helped bring Eric Bana to the world's attention, but few thought he'd follow it with a masterpiece on the level of "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford," to this writer's mind one of the two or three best American movies of the 21st century so far.
It's taken a little time, but Dominik is finally back, reuniting with the star of his last film, Brad Pitt, for a crime tale based on the George V. Higgins novel about a mob enforcer (Pitt) trying to track down a pair of junkies who've ripped off a poker game. Expected to be closer to the darkly comic tone of "Chopper" than to 'Jesse James,' all we've seen so far from the movie is a lone image of Pitt toting a shotgun, but Russian site Kinopoisk (via The Film Stage) have uncovered a selection of new looks at the film, featuring supporting cast members Ray Liotta, Richard Jenkins and James Gandolfini.
In the pictures (which you can see below), you can glimpse Liotta (looking like an older Henry Hill) as the mobster who runs the poker game, Jenkins as a lawyer and Gandolfini as an alcoholic hitman, as well as a new image of Pitt, and a hi-res version of the old one. Nowhere to be seen just yet are Scoot McNairy and Ben Mendelsohn as the junkie thieves, or other members of the supporting cast, like rising star Bella Heathcote ("Dark Shadows"), Sam Shepard or Garret Dillahunt.
The Weinstein Company picked the film up last year, but as yet there's no word on a release date. That being said, we've got our fingers crossed for a Cannes, Venice, Toronto or Telluride bow: time will tell where it ends up.

If people stopped whining in the comment sections of the world, we'd all be so much better off.
On another note, this photos sure don't say much at all but Cogan's Trade is probably the movie I'm looking forward to most this year as well.
have some dignity guys… you are beginning to sound like harry knowles and his ain't it cool cronies with the "looking forward to this one most" type shit… because you say it for every god damn thing that crops up with a name cast or director… and the group "we" is also slightly disturbing and unprofessional, each author should stand for his or her own blog entry
