After the recent set photo of Francis Ford Coppola and Elle Fanning on set of their the director’s new film “Twixt,” three new stills have been unveiled from its inclusion in the TIFF line-up including the first look at lead Val Kilmer, who stars as “a burnt-out mystery writer who gets mixed up in murder and evil in a California town.”
The story was actually inspired by a Hawthorne and Poe-inspired dream Coppola had with the helmer going on now to write an indie gothic horror that even features (we presume) a ghost version of the latter (see above). Coppola was at Comic-Con to unveil some footage before remixing what he exhibited on the fly — a philosophy he’s planning to abide by in a 30 city tour of the film that will see him and electronic musician and film composer Dan Deacon recutting the movie and score to audiences nightly. Will he present the film live at TIFF? We really hope so.
Joanne Whalley, Bruce Dern, Ben Chaplin, Don Novello, David Paymer, and Coppola family favorite Alden Ehrenreich all co-star in the film which also has a Halloween release in the works. [TIFF]
