Here’s your first look at Sam Worthington as Perseus, the mortal son of Zeus, in the Louis Leterrier’s remake of “Clash Of The Titans.” Does he look the part or does he look the part? Expect Worthington to appear in every action-sci-fi film from now on for the rest of time as apparently, that’s what everyone wants him for. [/Film]
Tobey Maguire and Anne Hathaway are set to star in “Tokyo Suckerpunch,” — no, not a Japanese version of Zack Snyder’s similarly titled film —a project described by it’s scribe, Ed Solomon, as a “a lot of action, but mostly comedy set in Tokyo, about a guy who thinks he’s in love with one woman.” The film is based on a novel by Isaac Adamson. Kevin Pollack has revealed he is set to take up a role in Kevin Smith’s “A Couple Of Dicks.” [Twitter]
Some footage, only marginally interesting behind-the-scenes footage, of Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” has surfaced online. No Ledger, no Depp or Law. Just cameras and Gilliam standing around with actor Andrew Garfield and Lily Cole, don’t get your hopes up too high. [ToutLeCine]
This could not sound any worse: Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Chris Klein, Adam Rodriguez and Richard T. Jones will star in “Caught In The Crossfire,” a police corruption drama from writer-director Brian Miller. The film will follow two homicide detectives who find themselves caught in the crossfire of a gang-related homicide and a group of dirty cops. [Variety]
Richard Shepard — the director behind the excellent, forthcoming documentary about wiry, ’70s cult actor John Cazale, “I Knew It Was You” — is set to helm Overture Films’ dark comedy “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn,” a film that explores how a New York City man uses the last hour and a half of life he’s been told he has left. Shepard also directed the underrated “The Matador” with Pierce Brosnan and “The Hunting Party” with Richard Gere, so this is one to keep an eye on. [THR]
Gore Verbinski has revealed that he may not be able to helm the “Bioshock” adaptation: “The bottom line is it has to shoot out of the States for budget reasons and my schedule may be prohibitive.” Could this mean a return for Verbinski on the fourth “Pirates Of The Caribbean” film? God, let’s hope not. Bury that silly franchise for good, please. [L.A. Times]
Todd Field (director of “Little Children” and “In the Bedroom”) is set to adapt “The Creed of Violence” for Universal. The Western film takes place in 1910 and follows a desperado and a government agent as they try to stop an arms smuggling ring. [Variety]
Alyssa Milano has signed on to star in and produce “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend,” a romantic comedy about an outgoing woman who meets two seemingly ideal men in quick succession and must decide between them. Beau Bridges, Michael Landes, Christopher Gorham and Carol Kane round out the cast. [THR]
Could “Legally Blonde” director Robert Luketic be Robert Rodriguez’s replacement for the “Barbarella” remake now that he’s moved on and busied himself with a flotilla of other projects? “It will be a big intergalactic adventure with a sexy twist,” says one source (Dino De Laurentiis’ company still owns the rights). And it sounds like Rose McGowan is no longer attached as the lead, which isn’t totally shocking all things considered. [EW]
– TOKYO SUCKERPUNCH IS HAPPENING! That is one of the most enjoyable contemporary books I’ve read in awhile. That will be one fun movie.
– My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend smells like DTV.
-Robert Luketic is an asshole and a moron.
