This may shock some sensitive fanboy types who demand that actors have complete allegiance and knowledge of whatever property they’ve signed on to perform in: before filming started on "Assassin’s Creed," Michael Fassbender had never played the video game.

“I’ve played it since [being offered the job] mainly to get an idea of the physicality of the character,” Fassbender told EW. “We’re striving to find something special. We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can. The fans are really passionate: very specific and they expect accuracy and historical detail. We’re really trying to capitalize and feed on and enjoy the fun element. We’re working hard to make this something special.”
So rest assured, by time the movie comes out on December 21, 2016, the Justin Kurzel ("Macbeth") directed effort will be as close to the stealthy game as possible. Check out the first image up above, and below, a voicemail message of Alan Rikkin (the villain played by Jeremy Irons), the chief executive officer of Abstergo, as part of the film’s viral campaign (via Gamesradar).
That\’s the first image they release! Above poster is spot on. This costumes are atrousish.
Before I read the title I thought for sure that image was of Jim Carrey in some time travel comedy ala Martin Lawrenec in Black Knight.
I never thought I\’d say this but the movie with Fassbender, Irons, Cotillard, Gleeson and Michael K. Williams doesn\’t seem to excite me.
