Update: the photos are not official and have been removed at the request of Netflix.
Even if they don’t really have much of a movie presence, the Marvel promotional machine is in full force thanks to San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. Among the growing list of comics, movies, and TV shows they have on their plate, Marvel and Netflix have given us a little taste of what to expect from their upcoming “Jessica Jones” series, releasing the show’s first official photos. Krysten Ritter stars in the title role, but if the following photos are any indicator, she won’t be the only character prominently featured.
As you can see below, a man walks out of a bar completely engulfed in flames before he receives assistance from Jessica Jones. That man, as many of you already know, is Luke Cage, and it will be interesting to see how large of a role the character has on the show. It was announced in March that Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, will get his very own Netflix show at some point next year. So, how will the character transition from one series to the next? And if “Jessica Jones” is successful enough for a second season, will he keep appearing in both shows?
“Jessica Jones,” developed by Melissa Rosenberg, follows the title character as she attempts to rebuild her life following the tragic end to her superhero career. She begins working as a private eye, often dealing with cases that involve people who have remarkable abilities. Luke Cage, a man with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin, happens to be one of those people Jones encounters during her investigations.
We’ll certainly hear more about “Jessica Jones” as we get closer to its Netflix release date. Until then, enjoy the photos. [ComicBookResources]
