It seems like a rare bird these days, but Liam Neeson is making a movie that doesn’t find him employing a special set of skills to immobilize faceless baddies. The actor has reteamed with his "Gangs Of New York" director, Martin Scorsese, for the filmmaker’s long brewing passion project, "Silence," and the title doesn’t just refer to the Shûsaku Endô book being adapted for the big screen.

“[Scorsese] gives 200%. All he requires is that you give 100%. He’s intimidating,” Neeson explained at the Los Cabos Film Festival (via Variety), adding that he lost twenty pounds for his role. “He requires absolute silence on the set — if he hears one tiny sound, it shatters it for him.”
Co-starring Andrew Garfield, Tadanobu Asano, and Adam Driver, the film follows two 17th-century Jesuit priests who face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and spread the gospel of Christianity.
"Silence" arrives in theaters in 2016.

@ stalin william wyler directed more actors and actresses to oscar wins, has had more movies nominated for best picture then any other director and his films have won the most combined oscars in history, he\’s also the director of roman holiday, wuthering heights, the best years of our lives and ben hur, who in the hell remembers or talks about him? You can spout as much crap as you like but when people think of scorsese they either think of all the rubbish he\’s made with dicaprio lately, gangster movies, or the 3 films i\’ve mentioned. I know a lot of people love the guy because he sounds like a nerd and throws the camera around a lot but lets face it when you have films like boxcar bertha, new york new york, the shockingly bad and ridiculous last temptation of christ with keitel trying to pull off a red mullet while sporting a new york accent, bringing out the dead, age of innocence, kundun, the terrible and misogynistic cape fear which isn\’t even as good as the B movie original, the flawed gangs of new york with the most miscast actress in history in it (cameron diaz) and after that just sell out drivel like the wolf of wall street and hugo it\’s probably very safe to say that you are extremely overrated. The guy isn\’t kubrick nor is he tarkovsky, bergman or renoir, he\’s just a film nerd with an eclectic filmography in which he throws the camera around, let\’s face it he\’s as bad as peter jackson. I\’ll let you guys keep worshiping at the guys crotch. Oh and here is another name for you……hitchcock, you know the guy who did more to influence film technique then probably any other director, the films that he made in the 50\’s alone wipe the floor with 99% of the dreck scorsese has put out. Face it he\’ll be forgotten in time because people will see his films as being the crap they are, sorry 🙂
