It says something about the mystique of the “Alien” franchise that even though we’re still figuring out the narrative reason why the sci-fi horror classic even needs one prequel, let alone several, that we’re still curious as hell about what Ridley Scott is cooking up with “Alien: Covenant.” Cameras are now rolling, and fresh buzz about the movie emerged over the past couple days, thanks to some pretty random set photos of people in alien costumes fighting on a dusty landscape. Perhaps hoping to correct any pre-conceived notions of what ‘Covenant’ will be, 20th Century Fox has now issued its own official photo.

So here we have our first look at Katherine Waterston in the film, who is looking quite Ripley-esque, against the kind of sci-fi backdrop that we expect —and it is maybe overly familiar?— from the franchise at this point. I’ll leave it to those nerdier than me to suss out What It All Means, but we’ll find out for sure on August 4, 2017.
looks like a great shot… dunno what that means for the entire movie though. I’m one of those suckers who keeps hoping they’ll recover the magic of the first 2 Alien movies and suck me back into it.
In all honestly I liked Prometheus. Was it an all time classic? No, was it good to be back in the ‘Alien’ world? Yeah it was. I also had low expectations after reading some reviews and waiting for it to appear on Netflix.
I thought “Prometheus” was irredeemably, inexcusably awful, like the last few “Alien” sequels have been.
But that shot.
Jesus, I feel myself getting pulled back in. It’s like an abusive relationship I can’t escape.
