First Look: Jessica Chastain In Oscar Contender ‘Miss Sloane’

It seems that every movie vying for Oscar gold this fall is going to show up somewhere in the next six to eight weeks, either at festivals in Telluride, Venice, Toronto or New York City. But there are always a handful that arrive late in the game and tend to shake things up. Could “Miss Sloane” be one them?

Certainly, the potential is there, with John Madden (“Shakespeare In Love“) directing the always terrific, two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain in this thriller about a lobbyist working the high-powered corridors of Washington, D.C. Here’s the official synopsis:

MISS SLOANE is the story a ruthless lobbyist (Jessica Chastain) who is notorious for her unparalleled talent and her desire to win at all costs, even when it puts her own career at risk. The thriller pulls back the curtain on how Capitol Hill games are played and won as Sloane faces off against the most influential powers in D.C.

Co-starring Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Stuhlbarg, Alison Pill, Jake Lacy, Sam Waterston, and John Lithgow, “Miss Sloane” opens on December 9th.Miss_Sloane_First_Look Jessica Chastain

    • What comeback? She’s been kicking ass for years. “A Most Violent Year”, “Miss Turner”, “Interstellar”, “The Martian”. She may not always be the star but she’s always a presence on-screen. She literally was the only good thing about “The Huntsman: Winter’s War”. LOL

  1. Okay Academy, here you go. She did a movie you morons won’t bitch about this time because you’re PC mongrels. She’s not getting useful information from a terrorist by waterboarding him so you can cut the crybaby shit and hand her the Oscar she should have gotten 4 years ago for playing a realistic CIA agent but then instead, under pressure from internally, gave it to the popular cheerleader who, irony, does nothing but cry and bitch on camera.

      • Yeah but see “Zero Dark Thirty” was a propaganda the Academy DIDN’T like. And “The Help” wasn’t publicized enough. “Miss Sloane” though she’s established herself much more as an actress in the last couple years as a leading lady and her reputation has grown quite a bunch since then. No other actress seems to be headlining this year although some will come out of the woodwork soon. Meryl Streep will get nominated for the Jenkins film. LOL We all know that.
