While there will be no shortage of blockbusters this summer to entice you at the multiplex, but, as always, television will be offering some reasons to stay home instead. And though Guillermo del Toro is know for bringing it on the big screen, the prospect of him being able to tell a meaty, thrilling story across the length of a TV series has lots of potential, and that’s one of the reasons we’ll be tuning into “The Strain.”
Following a teaser trailer of sorts last month, the first official images of the show are here, which hint at a “Contagion“-like set up. Based on the book by Del Toro and Chuck Hogan, and led by Corey Stoll (“House Of Cards,” “Midnight In Paris“), the show will tell the tale of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control, who puts together a team to help save humanity when a strain of vampirism breaks out. And yes, this pics have caught our attention.
Much more to come as FX gears this up for release in July. [Yahoo]
