Right before “Butter” premiered at the Telluride Film Festival this past September, The Weinstein Company had ambitions that the film might become a dark horse Oscar contender, exciting the left-leaning Academy with its sharp digs at a Michele Bachmann/Sarah Palin-like character played by Jennifer Garner. Well, it’s November, and "Butter" wasn't quite an across the board hit at Telluride and Bachmann is now a non-factor in the Presidential race.
If it had been a Telluride sensation, the film surely would have gotten a 2011 release, but as things stand, it's now slated for release on March 16, 2012. But to get your feet wet, a handful of new images have arrived, with new images appearing online giving us a new look at Olivia Wilde as stripper/prostitute Brooke and Hugh Jackman in his small role as the car salesman/adulturer Boyd Bolton. Also starring Yara Shahidi, Rob Corddry, Alicia Silverstone and recent Emmy winner Ty Burrell, the film centers on Laura (Garner), the wife of a former butter sculpting champion Bob (Burrell) who tries to take the mantle from her husband only to be thwarted by a young adopted African American girl (Shahidi), who has discovered that she has a natural talent for making art out of butter.
We presume a trailer will be on the way soon, but in the meantime, enjoy the pics.
Well I guess if you are to make a movie, it would of course have to be the liberal minded haters to add conservative women. How else could it be successful, you have to put those names in there to capture the interest of going out seeing the movie. Just another way for the producers to make money off of a conservative name.
I saw this at the Austin Film Festival and it was hilarious! A bit slow in place and probably too much for most of America to handle but it's definitely worth checking out.
I'm looking forward to seeing Olivia Wilde in this. This is one of her more interesting roles.
