As of last week, one of our most anticipated movies of the next few years is “Blonde,” the adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ Pulitzer Prize-nominated novel of the same name, following the life of Marilyn Monroe, and her relationships with Joe DiMaggio, Arthur Miller and John F. Kennedy. It’s been adapted before, into a CBS miniseries in 2001, but the new film version has Naomi Watts attached as Monroe, and director Andrew Dominik, who was behind one of our favorite movies of the last decade, “The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford.”
A kindly reader pointed us towards the French site Allocine, which snapped a promotional image of Watts as Monroe while at Cannes. It’s not an earth-shattering image, (it is after all, most likely just a photo test, as production isn’t set to kick off until next January), but shows that Watts is a good match for the starlet, and it’s enough to tide us over for the next 18 months or so…
