Yep, so the guy who directed two “Underworld” movies and “Live Free or Die Hard” is being given the keys to the “Total Recall” reboot/remake, and if Len Wiseman screws the pooch, it won’t be for a lack of having a decent cast.
Entertainment Weekly (via The Film Stage) have the first official still from the film and it looks like Douglas Quaid (played by Colin Farrell) is in trouble. The future-set story that follows Quaid, a factory worker who begins to think he’s a spy, but doesn’t know whether it’s for Euromerica or New Shanghai, one of the two superpower countries in this world. Bryan Cranston plays Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who is plotting to invade New Shanghai. Billy Nighy will take on the role of Quatto, the leader of the resistance with Kate Beckinsale as Quaid’s wife and Jessica Biel as the love interest, Melina. As for John Cho, he’s going to get the ball rolling in the film as McClane, a rep from the company that convinces Quaid to implant his brain with false memories. So like we said, a great cast, but even so with Wiseman at the helm, who knows what’ll happen.

LOL! Ironic considering Verhoeven only made two good films in his life, and even those were filled with cheesy, ham-fisted acting and some of the corniest dialogue ever. Robocop and Total Recall were his only good films.
I\’ll say this for Len Wiseman. He\’ll treat the source material better, his movie will look amazing, his action and stunts sequences will be spectacular, and he\’ll get competent performances from his actors. He also won\’t go overboard with CG as he is known to not like it, and his film will have less corny dialogue.
Is it just me or does anyone think that the names of the characters don\’t really fit the names of the actors…? I know it\’s stupid and I don\’t normally look at that but Jessica Biel playing a woman named Melina? John Cho playing McClane?
Bryan Cranston has the busiest agent in Hollywood.
If they went back to the source material, this might have had a chance, but just remaking the earlier version is pointless. And does Colin Farrell always just turn up in his own clothes?
Good, hardcore-scifi script ( i was suprised too). Hopefully Wiseman will do it justice.

For a change, this remake could be better than the original …coz it just can\’t be worse.
