Got a Tip?

‘Stranger Things’ Actor Finn Wolfhard “Would Literally Do Anything” To Work With The Safdie Brothers

Thanks to “Stranger Things,” both “It” films, and the upcoming “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” young actor Finn Wolfhard really has the opportunity to do just about any kind of role he’d like to do. That’s the type of opportunity that exists after being one of the leads of one of the most popular TV shows and horror franchises over the past few years. But for Wolfhard, he’s not cashing out this fame for a chance at a superhero film or blockbuster franchise of his own. Nope, he wants to star in a Safdie Brothers film.

Speaking to Vulture, Wolfhard was asked what he’d like to do with the freedom that comes from having a steady role on a huge TV series and a resume that includes massive hit films. And surprisingly, he said that he wants to make “some really weird movies” and listed the “Uncut Gems” filmmakers as his dream directors.

“I think for me, the big swing ones I’d love to do are just some really weird movies — some crazy, fun indie movies,” said Wolfhard. “Like, I love everything the Safdie brothers are doing. I would literally do anything in a heartbeat with them, and I guess the end goal for me is to be in a place of security to the point where I could just be in a room with my friends writing and directing. That’s where I want to be in life.”

After the one-two punch of “Good Time” and “Uncut Gems,” it’s clear that Josh and Benny Safdie have established themselves as two of the best up-and-coming filmmakers on the planet. We’ve seen this sort of adoration from others in the business already. And this is the exact type of situation that led to Robert Pattinson landing the lead role in “Good Time.” So, maybe there’s a chance that the next Safdie Brothers film might have the kid from “Stranger Things” in it?

I mean, if it worked for Adam Sandler, why not Finn Wolfhard?

If you don’t want to wait for that and would rather see what Wolfhard has going on right now, you can see him in the new horror film “The Turning,” which is in theaters now. (Though, judging by the reviews and CinemaScore, it won’t be there for long…)
