There’s teasing… and then there’s teasing to the point where we begin to lose interest, and that’s frankly where we’ve been at with Guillermo del Toro‘s “The Strain.” FX launched a lengthy and often tedious viral campaign for the film showing little in the way of actual footage, but that has all changed as today we now have a proper trailer, and guess what? We’re excited about this again.
Based on the book series written by del Toro and Chuck Hogan, this new show brings together a pretty terrific cast — Corey Stoll, Mía Maestro, David Bradley, Natalie Brown, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, Sean Astin, Richard Sammel, Ben Hyland, Javier Botet, Doug Jones — for a story set in a world where an viral outbreak has lead to vampirism. And it’s not hot hunky Southern vampires like in “True Blood,” but typically freaky del Toro-esque bloodsuckers, coupled with a procedural aspect it seems. Looks like a lot fun.
“The Strain” arrives on July 13th. Watch below. [Live For Films]
Derrick. Your insane. The book series was amazing. I mean the ending left a lil to be desired but it was a great page turner and the best trio of books I have read in years. I have been thinking about the poss show since I read the last book and its finally here. I can't wait for July 13th.
The book series was alright. I just hope they do a better job in the show with character development. By the end of the series, I could honestly care less who lived or died.
Ah, man, the first book was tedious as hell. It was CSI Transylvania…with characters breaking out in dramatically convenient stupidity just when the plot required it. Pass.
This shit is going to own. Hope they do each book as one season. Over and out keep it simple.
Yikes, that trailer made me jump. Can't wait!
