Got a Tip?

First Look: Felicity Jones As Ruth Bader Ginsburg In ‘On The Basis Of Sex’

After Felicity Jones gave franchises another try with last year’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (don’t forget about her tiny role in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2“), the actress is back in the world of prestige dramas, and hoping to earn another Oscar nomination with “On The Basis Of Sex” by taking on the role of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Directed by Mimi Leder (“The Leftovers“), with an ensemble cast that includes Armie Hammer, Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston, Jack Reynor, Stephen Root, and Cailee Spaeny, the film will track the young life of the future Supreme Court justice, and the case that made her name. Here’s the official synopsis:

The film tells an inspiring and spirited true story that follows young lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she teams with her husband Marty to bring a groundbreaking case before the Supreme Court and overturn a century of gender discrimination.

Production is now underway in Montreal, with Universal Pictures aiming for a 2018 release date, one that I’d assume will fall right into the awards season. Next year will also mark Ginsburg’s 25th year at the highest legal seat in the land.Felicity-Jones-as-Ruth-Bader-Ginsburg-On-The-Basis-Of-Sex
