Ahead of the release of “Fast X,” we now know who will be taking the director’s chair for the 11th and potentially final installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise. This comes after Leterrier was brought in during the production of “Fast X” to replace previous director Justin Lin when he exited over a conflict/dispute behind the scenes. If you’re not aware, Leterrier is a veteran of the action genre with credits that consist of Marvel’s Phase 1 installment “Incredible Hulk,” the Jet-Li pic “Unleashed,” a “Clash of The Titans” remake, the first two “Transporter” films led by Jason Statham, and the ridiculous Sasha Baron Cohen comedy “Brothers Grimsby.” He had most recently been working with rising French action star Omar Sy on Netflix’sLupin” and “The Takedown.”

The next “Fast & Furious” installment coming out soon sees Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson, and Rita Moreno join the car-focused adventure franchise. We likely won’t know who will ultimately return from the “Fast X” cast for the next sequel until the dust settles with the new movie. Although, it’s evident that Vin Diesel’s Dom coming back is a given. Other cast members include Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, and Charlize Theron.

Here is the “Fast X” logline from Universal:

In 2011’s ‘Fast Five,’ Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price. Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London, and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged, and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

“Fast X” will be speeding into theaters on May 19, and you can watch the latest trailer below.
