Single parenthood, grief and coming of age collide in Kat Candler‘s “Hellion,” with the drama picking up good notices out of the Sundance Film Festival, where it premiered in January, and a Game Changer Special Mention award for the director when it played SXSW this spring. Now the gritty drama is coming to theaters, and we have the exclusive look at the first poster.
Aaron Paul leads the film as the hard-drinking Hollis, a single dad still mourning the loss of his wife, and trying to raise his two sons, including the rebellious teenager Jacob (played by newcomer Josh Wiggins). And when the latter hellraiser gets involved in the high-risk, white-knuckle world of motocross, things threaten to spin out of control. This one sheet for the film captures the quality of the movie that we noted builds to a finale that’s “heartbreaking and moving.”
“Hellion” opens in New York and Los Angeles and on VOD on June 13th. Check out our interview with Aaron Paul and Josh Wiggins right here, and the full poster below along with the first trailer. VMI is handling international sales on “Hellion” in Cannes.
