Exclusive: The Race Is On In Clip From Jack Hill’s Cult Stock Car Flick ‘Pit Stop’

Pit StopThis summer, you’ve seen no shortage of tricked out vehicles getting destroyed in interesting ways in "Mad Max: Fury Road," while Dwayne Johnson literally flexed his way out of a cast in "Furious 7." But over forty years ago, director Jack Hill ("Coffy," "Foxy Brown") made a movie with both those things but with far less money and CGI enhancement. Today we have an exclusive clip from his newly restored cult film "Pit Stop."

Starring Sig Haig, Richard Davalos, Brian Donlevy, Ellen Burstyn (billed as Ellen McRae), and Beverly Washburn, the film follows street punk Rick Bowman who gets bailed out of jail by a race promoter and put on the figure-8 track to square off against the dangerous Hawk Sidney. The film was shot on a real racetrack, and a lot of the smashups in the movie are quite real.

"Pit Stop" hit stores on June 23rd in a director-approved 2-disc Blu-ray/DVD edition (here’s the film’s Amazon page), and it comes loaded with extras including an audio commentary, numerous featurettes and more. Watch the scene below in which Rick won’t be stopped by his arm cast to get behind the wheel and onto the track.
