One warehouse. A deal gone wrong. And a whole lot of guns. That’s the simple, brilliant premise of Ben Wheatley‘s “Free Fire,” which unfolds an action-packed, hilarious thriller that would impress even John Wick with how many bullets are unleashed.

Endorsed by none other than Martin Scorsese, and coming in hot off strong receptions at the Toronto International Film Festival and BFI London Festival (among others), “Free Fire” is now headed to SXSW where Austin audiences can watch the all-star cast — Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Jack Reynor, Babou Ceesay, Enzo Cilenti, Sam Riley, Michael Smiley and Noah Taylor — have a ball in this ’70s-set film. Here’s the official synopsis:
Set in a colorful yet gritty 1970s Boston, Free Fire opens with Justine (Oscar® winner Brie Larson), a mysterious American businesswoman, and her wise-cracking associate Ord (Armie Hammer) arranging a black-market weapons deal in a deserted warehouse between IRA arms buyer Chris (Cillian Murphy) and shifty South African gun runner Vernon (Sharlto Copley). What starts as a polite if uneasy exchange soon goes south when tensions escalate and shots are fired, quickly leading to a full-on Battle Royale where it’s every man (and woman) for themselves.
