This weekend, some pretty big-league talent is headed to the multiplex with “Life.” The sci-fi horror stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson, comes from “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and has Daniel Espinosa of “Safe House” and “Easy Money” behind the camera. And helping to heighten the tension will be composer Jon Ekstrand, providing the music for what’s easily his biggest endeavor yet.
“Life” takes viewers on board the International Space Station, where a new organism discovered on Mars turns out to have some very deadly attributes. And as you’ll hear in our exclusive soundtrack cut, “Where Are You?”, Ekstrand builds atmosphere and mood superbly, before smashing the tension with a flurry of strings and percussion. It’s a great sonic teaser for the film, and continues a winning partnership between Ekstrand and Espinosa. The composer has worked with the filmmaker on all of his movies to date.
“Life” opens on March 24th and the soundtrack will be released digitally the same day via Milan Records.
