This month, Christopher Nolan brings his nerve-rattling “Dunkirk” to cinemas around the world. However, if you’re looking for a WWII tale told from a different perspective, “In This Corner Of The World” is well-worth seeking out. And today, we have an exclusive clip from the elegiac look at wartime.
Directed by Sunao Katabuchi, the animated film follows Suzu Urano, who in 1944 moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima to live with her husband’s family. However, her quiet life is thrown into chaos when her town is bombed during World War II, with the heart-warming and inspirational tale focusing of the everyday challenges faced by the Japanese in the midst of a violent, war-torn country. The clip you’ll see below highlights how quickly bucolic, rural life can become dangerous.
“In This Corner Of The World” opens in LA, NY, San Francisco and over 25 additional cities nationwide on August 11th.
