Exclusive: Preview Mac Quayle’s 2 Volume Soundtrack For ‘Mr. Robot’

There are no shortage of reasons why USA Networks‘ “Mr. Robot” became a breakout hit last year. From the top-notch performances by Rami Malek and Christian Slater, to a sharp premise executed with flair, the thriller/drama set a high bar to clear, and did so with confidence. And helping to complete the paranoid texture of the series was the score by Mac Quayle, which is now coming to a stereo near you.

The composer who also has “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” “American Horror Story,” and “Scream Queens” to his name, put together a chilly, brooding and atmosphere series of music for “Mr. Robot.” It’s the appropriate backdrop for a show about a young programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer by day and as a vigilante hacker by night, who discovers the company he works for is up to no good.

“Elliot uses programming and social engineering techniques to seek and exploit weakness in computer networks, and I use programming and sonic engineering techniques to help enhance the emotional content of each scene,” Quayle explained about his work. “Armed with our computers and an arsenal of software tools, we both attempt to create and discover the right combination of notes (code) and sounds (keystrokes) that help tell the story (access the network).”

The two-volume soundtrack for “Mr. Robot” arrives digitally on June 3rd, on CD on June 24th, and on vinyl in July. Check out our exclusive preview below.
