There are no superheroes, R-rated laughs, big action set-pieces or 3D, but we can pretty much guarantee that no movie you see this summer will hit you as hard as “The Act Of Killing.” The acclaimed documentary by Joshua Oppenheimer has been receiving almost universal rave reviews (including ours), while shaking up members at The Playlist who continue to catch up with it. And with the film now in limited release, we’ve got some new artwork that we hope will spur you to hit the arthouse instead of the multiplex this weekend.

This latest poster for the movie was done in consultation with Neil Kellerhouse and its tagline is bracing reminder at both surreal and hard-hitting subject matter of the movie. The film examines the men who carried out waves of death squad hits for Indonesia’s military government, in the mid-1960s. Fans of American cinema, Oppenheimer met with these men and asked them to re-enact their crimes and the result is a chilling look into the minds of these men who were responsible for the deaths of over one million people.

Check out the new artwork below. “The Act Of Killing” is now playing in limited release.
