With a just over a week to go until it makes its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, director Scott Coffey has been busy fine tuning “Adult World” and getting ready to walk down the red carpet. We’ve shared some images and have been keeping up with the developments as the movie has progressed, but now we get our first look at “Adult World,” with this exclusive clip.
Life may not always turn out the way you thought, and so it goes for Emma Roberts who plays Amy Anderson, a college grad in poetry, convinced she is the next star in the literary world. Unfortunately, rejection letters, unpaid student loans and more start stacking up so she finds a job at Adult World — an adult bookstore, naturally — but things change when she strikes up a mentorship with her hero and punk poet Rat Billings (John Cusack).
As we’ll see in this scene, he’s not exactly the warmest character, but he is intrigued enough by her enthusiasm which is certainly infectious. Helping to carry the will be a score by Wolf Parade and Divine Fits frontman Dan Boeckner, who has not only recorded a brand new song for the movie (“Floating World”) but he’s also covered Flock Of Seagulls‘ “Wishing (“If I Had A Photograph Of You).”
“Adult World” has its first screening at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 18th at 6 PM at BMCC Tribeca Pac. Watch below.
I am DYING to find Dan\’s cover of Wishing TO NO AVAIL. I am miserable 🙁
Is this set in Syracuse?
Promising. Cusack in his more acerbic avatar is always entertaining.
