Writer/director Ava DuVernay knows how to get the word out. While she was worked in a publicity and promotional capacity on nearly one hundred movies ranging from big blockbusters to low key indies, for sophomore feature effort "Middle of Nowhere," her talent did all the talking. Picking up the Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival in January and competing for the Grand Jury Prize, her latest is headed to theaters, and with that honor bestowed upon it combined with a cast that includes the rising David Oyelowo, this may be one you'll want to track down.
Featuring Emayatzy Corinealdi and Omari Hardwick, the story centers on Ruby and Derek, whose love and relationship is challenged when he gets sent to prison for eight years. Their bright future is put on a startling hold, as she does her best to continue to support him. But as this exclusive clip from the movie reveals, life on the outside will provide its own challenges and temptations.
"Middle of Nowhere" will head to theaters on October 12th in limited release in major markets and roll out from there. Get a taste of this compelling drama by giving this clip a spin below.
I find Ms. Emayatzy Corinealdi quite beautiful. A real find on face alone. Looking forward to seeing her film.
We missed at Sundance unfortunately but have heard only good things. Do we know what cities it opens in?
Watched at TIFF and was very impressed. Oyelowo is excellent as always and the main woman is quite stunning.
