One of our 10 Movies To See In April, you might need a quick bit of history to catch up with “Alan Partridge.” One of Steve Coogan‘s most enduring comic creations, the character is a spoof on broadcasters in general and has become a phenomenon in the UK, where Partridge has appeared in three TV series, and numerous radio programs. Now it’s time for the character to take a leap to the big screen, and he does just that with the namesake film “Alan Partridge.”
This new adventure finds Partridge mixed up in a hostage situation when a disgruntled fellow DJ played by Colm Meaney takes control of the studio. As you’ll see in this exclusive clip, Alan Partridge makes the most with his chance to get on the air, handling listener calls that come in when he throws out the talkback topic: “What was better in the olden days?” Of course, this opens things up to no shortage of comic riffing on everything from nurses to Egypt.
“Alan Partridge” opens in limited release on April 4th. Watch below.
