Not everything this weekend at Comic-Con was superheroes, though you probably couldn’t tell with Warner Bros. and Marvel dominating the coverage on Saturday. But the folks at BBC America elbowed their way into the cultural noise, dropping the first look at “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency,” which, for fans of Douglas Adams, is a pretty big deal.
The series, starring Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett, is based on the author’s two Dirk Gently books (which had previously been made into a television show that lasted a single season on ITV a few years back), and follows a detective who doesn’t quite adhere to the standard practices you’d find in most gumshoes.
“He believes that everything is connected and just by living his life, wandering from place to place, he will be able to solve any mystery put in front of him,” screenwriter Max Landis told EW. Sorta sounds like how I make dinner sometimes.
“Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” debuts on BBC America on October 22nd.
