When is a top secret cameo role not a top secret cameo role? When it’s reported by a major Hollywood trade publication.
THR reveals that Ethan Hawke — who is not generally known for treading in the waters of the tentpole world — has come aboard the Len Wiseman-directed “Total Recall” remake. Starring Colin Farrell and Bryan Cranston, the future-set story follows Douglas Quaid (Farrell), a factory worker who begins to think he’s a spy, but doesn’t know whether it’s for Euromerica or New Shanghai, one of the two superpower countries in this world. Bryan Cranston plays Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who is plotting to invade New Shanghai.
No word on what Hawke’s cameo will be, but it seems it’s important enough that they need a strong actor for the part. As for the female leads, it seems pretty much inevitable that Wiseman’s wife, Kate Beckinsale, will land the part of Quaid’s wife and Jessica Biel will play Melina. Both are said to be in negotiations for the film.
Filming begins next month in Toronto with an August 3, 2012 release date on the schedule.
The most obvious answer is his cameo will be as the representative of Recall brought in to get Quaid to realize he\’s dreaming.
Get Delpy to cameo as well and have them walk by holding hands in old age make up. Bingo! The film is already 10X better than it\’s going to be.
Kuato carrier??
My first thought was that he had been cast as Richter until I read that it is merely a cameo appearance. Nevertheless, it would be good if Colin Farrell and Ethan Hawke have a scene together.
I hope former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger will have a cameo in and share a scene with Colin Farrell, perhaps telling him to have fun.
I predicted back on July 29, 2010 when it was announced that Len Wiseman would direct Total Recall that Kate Beckinsale would be cast as Lori.
