Humans seem to be fascinated by the idea of an apocalypse or a doomsday. From the doctrines claiming the world was going to end in 2012 as the Mayan predicted, to theories that the Rapture was supposed to happen earlier this year, there’s always speculation of when our time on Earth will end. Seemingly thanks to this societal obsession, Netflix has brought us a new film titled “How It Ends,” starring Theo James and Forrest Whittaker.
Unlike most movies of its kind, “How It Ends” is not post-apocalyptic but rather set as the apocalypse is imminent. During this time of chaos, Will (Theo James) and Tom (Forrest Whittaker) set out on a road trip, determined to save Will’s wife and Tom’s daughter Samantha (Kat Graham).
“How It Ends” is the latest film from David M. Rosenthal, who most recently directed “The Perfect Guy” for Screen Gems, starring Sanaa Lathan, Morris Chestnut, and Michael Ealy. It over-performed at the box office, bringing in $57 million on a $12 million budget. His other credits include “A Single Shot” and “Falling Up.”
The film was released today on the streaming service so they’re giving it one last push in hopes some may be interested, despite the failing reviews.
The official synopsis:
As a mysterious apocalypse causes the spread of misinformation and violence, a man and his estranged father-in-law race across a chaotic and fractured country to save his pregnant wife.
