Despite starring in popular films such as the ‘Percy Jackson’ franchise and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” actor Logan Lerman has yet to really break out and become the massive star that many anticipated he would be. However, that hasn’t stopped him from turning in solid performances, such as in the recent series “Hunters” on Amazon Prime. And now, he looks to do the same opposite John Hawkes in the new drama, “End of Sentence.”
As seen in the first trailer for “End of Sentence,” the film follows the story of a young guy that is released from prison and greeted by his father, who offers him a chance to go on a road trip to spread the ashes of his deceased mother in a lake. The father and son aren’t close, at all, but the young man decides to honor his mother’s last wish anyway. Of course, you can see where this is going, as the two guys go on a journey that helps them reconnect, as they meet strangers along the way.
As mentioned, the film stars Logan Lerman and John Hawkes, as the estranged father and son duo. “End of Sentence” marks the feature directorial debut for Elfar Adalsteins.
“End of Sentence” debuted last year at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and will be coming soon to theaters and VOD.
Here’s the synopsis:
After being widowed, Frank Fogle reluctantly embarks on a journey to honor his wife’s last wish of spreading her ashes in a remote lake in her native Ireland and a promise of taking his estranged son, Sean, along for the trip. Between a disconcerting Irish wake, the surfacing of an old flame, the pick up of a pretty hitchhiker and plenty of unresolved issues, the journey becomes a little more than father and son had bargained for.
