We may not be getting a new season of “Westworld” this year, but HBO has something else that’s just as captivating with the final season of “The Leftovers” (and now’s the time to catch up if you’ve been missing out on the terrific series). The third batch of episodes will indeed be the last, and it looks like Damon Lindelof and co. are gearing up to lean in hard on the apocalyptic vibe.

The new season will see the Garveys headed to Australia where Kevin Garvey’s father is hanging out, and suffice to say, it looks like things are going to take a further turn toward the surreal. Here’s the official synopsis:
The new season of the Peabody Award-winning show, which was created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, finds the Garvey and Murphy families coming together as they desperately grasp for a system of belief to help better explain that which defies explanation. The world is crackling with the energy of something big about to happen, a corresponding bookend to the Sudden Departure that sent them all spinning years earlier, bringing their journey Down Under.
We can’t wait. “The Leftovers” is back on April 16th.
