For most of his career, Terence Davies has waited at least a few years between pictures, but it appears that at 70 years old, he isn’t wasting a moment. Last year he delivered his coming-of-age saga, “Sunset Song,” and he’s already back with his latest, the Emily Dickinson biopic “A Quiet Passion.” And following its World Premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, the picture is now headed to TIFF for its North American bow, bringing a new trailer with it.
Cynthia Nixon leads the picture as the famous poet who bucked conventions and made an impressive impact on the English language. Here’s the synopsis:
A Quiet Passion is Terence Davies’ biographical drama detailing the life of Emily Dickinson; her loves, her struggles and her magnificent poetry. Shot in Belgium and Massachusetts, A Quiet Passion paints a sympathetic but far from idealistic portrait of one of America’s greatest poets.
Also starring Jennifer Ehle, Keith Carradine, Emma Bell, and Duncan Duff, there’s no U.S. distribution for “A Quiet Passion” yet, but perhaps that will change in the weeks ahead.
