Remember the “The Adjustment Bureau“? It’s a Matt Damon vehicle written by “Bourne Ultimatum” scribe George Nolfi and a sci-fi love story. Universal picked it up earlier this year, it will be Nolfi’s directorial debut and it’s loosely based on a Phillip K. Dick novel (the great sci-fi writer, who Hollywood has consistently pillaged for ideas including the basis of “Blade Runner”). Well, Emily Blunt has joined the cast as the love interest.
Damon and Nolfi will tackle this first before the 4th Jason Bourne film which the writer/director is also penning (but presumably Paul Greengrass will still direct if he’s interested in what, three-four years at this rate?). The story apparently centers on a “congressman (Damon), on the rise in politics, who meets a beautiful ballet dancer only to discover strange circumstances keep them apart.” Sounds like someone’s a robot. Hopefully no one short circuits when they cry. But no really, this project sounds pretty interesting. Anything to bend the conventions of sci-fi a bit and romance will surely assist. [THR]
Props for Bjork'ing up Matt Damon.
