Thanks to the massive, massive box office success of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Hollywood has realized there’s a huge audience out there that is aching for a good ol’ musical biopic. While the merits (or lack thereof) of the aforementioned Queen-focused film will be debated for years to come, for those just wanting to watch a true story based on a musical icon, with some of that artist’s hit songs for good measure, the future is looking very, very bright. And as is seen in a new performance video, fans of ‘Rhapsody’ need to make sure they mark the release of “Rocketman” on their calendars.
The upcoming musical biopic “Rocketman” sets its sights on the life and career of music legend Elton John, with actor Taron Egerton donning the bedazzled glasses. And to celebrate the upcoming film, and last night’s Oscars, John and Egerton combined forces for a benefit show that included a duet performance of one of the music icon’s most well-known songs.
Film fans will no doubt remember “Tiny Dancer” as the song that played at the climactic moment in Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous.” But even though that movie featured the combined cast singing along to John’s song, providing a goosebumps-raising film moment, there’s something to be said about watching the musician himself performing the classic.

And if Egerton’s chops in the video is any indication of what we can expect in the upcoming biopic, film fans are in luck. Maybe the actor is lining himself up for a Rami Malek-esque award-winning showcase?
“Rocketman” hits theaters on May 31.
