Elizabeth Moss Will Play Eleanor Coppola In Barry Levinson’s Film About The Making of ‘The Godfather’

In a new casting report, it’s been revealed that Emmy-winner Elizabeth Moss has nabbed the role of Eleanor Coppola, the wife of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola that will be played by Oscar Isaac, in Barry Levinson‘s biopic about the hectic making of the iconic gangster movie “The Godfather.”

Considered to be one-half of Coppola’s masterpiece, with “The Godfather Part II” being equally good, if not superior. The first film production was notoriously plagued with studio meddling, and threats to fire Coppola and his casting picks regularly. We shouldn’t be shocked if they aim to explore the film’s stress on his family and personal life.

It is based on a screenplay by Andrew Farotte, and it will see Jake Gyllenhaal playing ’70s super produced Robert Evans, who Coppola clashed with consistently on the first ‘Godfather’ film.

Some of Elizabeth Moss’s upcoming releases include Wes Anderson‘s “French Dispatch” and Taika Waititi‘s soccer drama “Next Goal Wins.”The actress had been recently shooting the latest season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” in Toronto.

We should expect more big names to attach themselves and taking various roles as it certainly sounds like the type of film that the Academy will eat-up as they love films tackling Hollywood. An entirely different ‘making-of-the-Godfather’ project, a series for Paramount+, recently lost Armie Hammer in the lead role following his recent social media scandal[Deadline]
