Eleanor Tomlinson Wins Role Of Isabella In Bryan Singer’s ‘Jack The Giant Killer’

Beating out a field that included Juno Temple, Lily Collins and Adelaide Kane, the arguably least known of the contenders, Eleanor Tomlinson — who had small roles in “Alice In Wonderland” and “The Illusionist” — has landed the role of Isabella, the princess, in “Jack The Giant Killeraccording to Deadline.

With production gearing up to begin soon, director Bryan Singer has been on casting tear of late lining up thesps to join lead actor and hero of the film, Nicholas Hoult. The villainous roles will be taken by Stanley Tucci, as a treacherous adviser to the king (his highness, who appears to be central to the plot remains uncast at present), and Bill Nighy and John Kassar, who’ll together play the two-headed leader of the giants. Ewan McGregor recently signed on as the leader of the king’s guard.

Written by Christopher McQuarrie, Mark Bomback and Darren Lemke, the film is a revamp of the fairly tale that centers around a war between giants and humans, set off by the kidnapping of a Isabella (Tomlinson) and follows the young farmer (Hoult) who journeys to the giant kingdom on a rescue mission.

Production was set to begin last summer but was delayed as Singer got a handle on the extensive effects that will be utilized in the film. But everything is getting read to start shooting in London, with an unspecified 2012 release date on the horizon.
