It’s hard to believe, but it’s been two years since Edgar Wright rocked Comic-Con with "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," and while we’ve patiently awaited his next effort, it’s not long he’s been sitting around twiddling his thumbs. Not only did Wright embark on a lengthy, worldwide press tour for ‘Scott Pilgrim,’ he worked on a script for "Ant-Man" with Joe Cornish and shot a test reel for it earlier this year; he co-wrote the script for "The World’s End" which shoots this fall; and he signed on to direct "The Night Stalker" for Disney with Johnny Depp attached to star. And now, another project is now on his plate.
Wright will co-write and direct "Collider," a secretive sci-fi project over at Paramount that is a co-production between Big Talk and J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot (which explains why there are no plot details at the moment). What we can tell you is that Mark Protosevich ("I Am Legend," Spike Lee‘s "Oldboy") is co-writing the script and….that’s about it, at the moment. But Wright doing sci-fi? Sounds like a good match to us.
Of course, when this happens remains to be seen. He’ll be working steadily on "The World’s End" to meet a 2013 release date, and then after, Marvel is apparently keen to get him on "Ant-Man" (they’ve kicked around a very tentative 2014 release date, but that seems optimistic to us). Either way, another promising offering on Wright’s plate, and we’ll be eager to see how this one develops. [Deadline]
What happened to Baby Driver?
Come on, we must have Nathan Fillion as Ant-Man.
He also co-wrote the screenplay for THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN.
