Edgar Wright Lands Netflix Deal To Produce Multiple Series Including One Directed By Joe Cornish

Filmmakers create production companies all the time. But in the case of Edgar Wright, his new production company is already hitting the ground running, with a new deal with Netflix for multiple TV series, including one with the director of “Attack the Block.”

According to Variety, Wright has teamed with his longtime producer Nira Park, producer Rachael Prior, and filmmaker Joe Cornish to form a new company called Complete Fiction. And right out of the gate, the company has signed a deal for four TV series produced by Complete Fiction, including one that will be produced and directed by Joe Cornish, who is best known as the filmmaker behind the sci-fi movie, “Attack the Block.”

Cornish is set to direct a supernatural detective series titled, “Lockwood & Co,” which will debut on Netflix. The series will be based on the novels by author Jonathan Stroud. In addition to that series, Complete Fiction will produce series based on the sci-fi horror trilogy “The Murders of Molly Southbourne” by author Tade Thompson, as well as the historical Middle Eastern-set fantasy series “The City of Brass” by author S.A. Chakraborty. The fourth series has yet to be officially announced.

“This new chapter with Complete Fiction is something I have wanted to embark on for a while now,” said Wright. “Nira has been my producer now for more than 20 years, but we, along with our amazing team of long-time friends and collaborators, still share the same drive to bring original stories to the screen. Complete Fiction will be a dynamic hub for passionate creatives – somewhere they can feel nurtured and protected.”

Cornish added, “Edgar, Nira, and Rachael have felt like family to me for decades, so I’m thrilled and honored that we’re finally moving in together and putting a sign above our front door.”

Complete Fiction is also set to develop a number of feature films, but those aren’t part of the new Netflix deal.
