Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is at the level that he can pretty much do whatever he wants. He has a following on social media that is absolutely massive, and he’s probably the most recognizable film star on the planet right now. So, if the man wants a meeting with Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, you better believe that’s going to happen. And according to a new video from Johnson, it looks like the actor is trying to set up that meeting.
Recently, on Instagram, Johnson posted a 3-minute video congratulating all involved in the record-breaking debut of “Avengers: Endgame.” Even though the actor had nothing to do with the film, he has ties to the MCU in the form of friends Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, and his “Jumanji” co-star Karen Gillan. Plus, he also has some ties to Disney, which is the company behind his upcoming action-adventure film “Jungle Cruise,” based on the theme park ride of the same name and co-starring Emily Blunt.
The Rock doesn’t hold back in describing his astonishment at the box office debut of ‘Endgame.’ He says that he’s impressed with how the film reached incredible milestones, and “shattering that shit all around the world.”
But fans will probably take note at the end of the video, where Johnson sends a message directly to Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios and the mastermind behind the whole MCU, saying that the two have tried to get together and that he’ll make sure it happens soon. This is enough to send make fans’ minds explode with speculative thoughts. Could we be seeing Johnson show up in an MCU film in the future? That’s the million-dollar question, it seems.
This wouldn’t be the first time Johnson took the leap into superhero filmmaking. For years now, he’s been trying to get his “Black Adam” film off the ground over at Warner Bros. The film is expected to be a spin-off of “Shazam,” and the actor recently said that filming should begin in a year. However, with “Shazam” getting a sequel fast-tracked, and the overall box office for the film being very underwhelming, despite great reviews, there’s a chance that Johnson is ready to hedge his superhero bets and maybe link up with a proven commodity.
Obviously, that’s pure speculation, but does make some sense. So, fanboys and fangirls, where do you see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson fitting in the MCU? Obviously, there’s plenty of options.
