Earlier this year, it was revealed that “Dumb Money,” Craig Gillespie’s upcoming comedy about the 2021 GameStop short, had its cast. And what a formidable cast it is, as Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, Paul Dano, and Pete Davidson headline the film. Now Black Bear Pictures announced today that Shailene Woodley has also joined the cast.
Based on Ben Mezrich’s book “The Antisocial Network,” “Dumb Money” follows a group of trollish Reddit users whose questionable stock choices bring down a Wall Street hedge fund. Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum adapt Mezrich’s book for the big screen. The pair also serve as executive producers with Ryder Picture Company’s Aaron Ryder and Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman, among others. The film is currently in production.
Best known for her work in the “Divergent” film series and HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” Woodley has a lot of upcoming projects. Most notable is her role as Lina Lardi in Michael Mann’s forthcoming biopic “Ferrari,” filming now. She also stars in the thriller “Misanthrope” with Ben Mendelsohn, out later this year, and the romantic comedy “Robots” with Jake Whitehall.
So, who’s next to join Shailene Woodley and the troupe of Rogen, Stan, Dano, and Davidson in “Dumb Money”? Expect more news to drop about this buzz-worthy film soon.
