While he hasn't yet won over all his critics (reviews for "Cosmopolis" were mostly pleasantly surprised about his performance without raving about it), you have to give it to Robert Pattinson for making smart, bold choices. The actor's mostly been tied up on the "Twilight" movies for the past few years, but now he's admirably taking some risky and diverse roles, including parts in the costume drama "Bel Ami" from theater veteran Declan Donnellan, a thriller about the hunt for Saddam Hussein entitled "Mission: Blacklist," another picture with Cronenberg, and a team-up with Guy Pearce on "The Rover," from "Animal Kingdom" director David Michod.
But rumors started to fly in the last few days, after a report from Think McFly Think, that Pattinson might have another franchise picture on the way. According to the site, Lionsgate wanted Pattinson to play Finnick Odair, one of the major additions to "Catching Fire," the upcoming sequel to megahit "The Hunger Games" (recently retitled, simply enough, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"). Odair is a former victor and fan favorite in the Games who comes across Katniss and Peeta when *spoiler* they're forced to compete against other past champions in a special edition of the games *end spoiler*. And on one hand, Pattinson would make sense in the role: he's obviously in the same demographic, and he worked with the film's director, Francis Lawrence, on last year's "Water For Elephants."
But mostly, it made no sense whatsoever. Pattinson is only just getting out of a franchise, he's shown no real inclination to play second fiddle, he's not a good match for the part, and "The Hunger Games" has already outgrossed every "Twilight" movie by at least $100 million (although it's a touch behind "New Moon" internationally). Plus, they share the same audience for the most part anyway, so Pattinson's involvement wouldn't be a particular boon to the series. And indeed, the actor has confirmed that he's had no approach from the studio, telling USA Today that "I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in 'The Hunger Games.' I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent. [He] was like no one's going to offer you that part. I was like, thanks for the reassurance."
So there we have it. Twihards and… whatever you call 'Hunger Games' fans won't be united. Not a surprise so much as a confirmation of what should be obvious to anyone with half a brain, but still. We hope that Think McFly Think were fooled by a convincing prankster rather than just making it up for attention, but either way, there's not gonna be any R-Patz in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." Besides, he's much too busy getting ready to star in a film about The Band…
Hahahahaha xD ! thank gosh rob isnt going to be in the hunger games.. because that would just make him very stupid like the rest of the hunger games cast.. hunger games can suck it because they suck.
Hunger Games can go suck my fucking dick.
Wth?! people need to shutup & stop hating on Rob. He did nothing wrong & im actually very happy he isnt gonna be in the hunger games because that movie sucks ass. It's so predictable & the story doesnt make sense whatsoever so people can shut there fucking mouths & stop being haters because rob will get farther in life than anyone of you haters. If you are a hater why the fuck are you wasting your time reading this anyways? Twilight & Harry Potter fucking kick the hunger games ass so it should really stop trying to be good because no one gives a shit about the hunger games. Twilight & Harry Potter. Nuff said.
Rob Pattinson received very rave reviews about his Cosmopolis performance in almost every movie magazines, & some newspapers in Paris, & other countries, sites & film blogs like Variety, thompson on holywood, Film4, to name a few. Cosmopolis blow your mind and Cannes was amazing.
The Hunger Games is a hell of a lot better than the melodramatic Twilight. Robert Pattinson is 26 years old and best known for starring as a 17 year old sparkling vampire. Why did he call his agent to ask if he didn't care? He should be so lucky to be in a movie with good reviews because Bel Ami was as rotten as Twilight.
i think i speak for every normal person that loves and appreciates movies for what they are "fun and entertaining " . Unfortunately all the crazy teens that are so obsessed with Hunger Games are missing the point , well what do i expect they are after all children . Myself i can only take on kiddie franchise , Twilight was it and HG wasn't all that , and another thing he would never take that part even if he was right for it, so all of you Pattinson "Haters" [that's what they are called on the internet right !] don't take credit for this because obviously you all have been played by this blog "ThinkMcFlyThink"and all of you fell for it … not too bright hey.. And for those that believe that Pattinson is a "dumbass" or make boring films he's laughing his boring ass all the way to the bank with a beautiful girlfriend and what do you have ?? , i say thank God i won't have to share an auditorium with you ..And to MIA, STEVE, and KRACKEN your ass must get jealous of all the shit that comes out of your mouth!!
I think I speak for everyone when I say: Thank God
Thank god! Robert pattinson is a dumbass and doesn't even come close to being a fit for Finnick.
He should stick to boring movies nobody wants to see. Oh wait..
