Maybe this isn’t a surprise to those who have been keeping a close ear to the ground on the ever-spinning web of rumors surrounding the Marvel/Sony Spider-Man team up, but the reboot (or whatever they’ll spin it as) now has a guiding force and it’s one that should surely make fans happy.
Latino Review reports that Drew Goddard has been tasked to write and direct the tentatively titled "The Spectacular Spider-Man" (keep those adjectives coming!). And they have some interesting details about what the broad strokes of the solo movie will entail (**spoiler alerts ahead folks**). Thankfully, this new movie will ditch telling audiences the origin story for a third time, and thank god for that. Instead, the the plot revolves around Spider-Man "auditioning" to join the Avengers, which makes sense considering rumors that suggest he plays a significant part in "The Avengers: Infinity War."
But what about "Sinister Six"? Well, that movie has been scrapped, to the surprise of no one. Instead, the characters will be introduced with the idea of spinning them off into solo movies later, again, to the surprise of no one, because that’s how all of this works now.
As for casting, they want a young actor, since this will be a high school age Peter Parker, with the idea that he will age with the character. An interesting notion, but we’ll see how that plays out. Then there’s the question of the race of the character too, with The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider recently stating, on Meet the Movie Press Podcast: “Listen, this is not set in stone guys, but I’m telling you right now, Spider-Man’s not going to be white. I’m 95% sure. Spider-Man’s going to be most likely black. But there’s a chance he could also be Latino. 95% sure, not white.” So, Miles Morales?
Let the speculation machine begin churning… "The Spectacular Spider-Man" (or whatever it will be called) arrives on July 28, 2017.
Please Peter Parker. Not Miles. Not yet anyway. Let som white guy play as Spider-Man for like 4 or 5 movies and then bring in Miles. The MCU isn\’t ready for Miles.

But the bigger news of this article should be the death of the Sinister Six film. Ding dong the Sinister Six is dead.
Yeah, Jeff Sneider\’s so sure the character isn\’t white that it\’s not set in stone but he knows 95% that he\’ll be black or a latino. Makin\’ a whole lotta sense there. Might as well hang it up with Miles Morales, this isn\’t Fox casting minority just to cover a diversity quota.
