It seems like a no brainer, but if your movie takes place in the very diverse setting of New York City, it would follow that your cast would reflect as such. Yet Hollywood has been slow to catch up with the times. But it seems that the folks behind Marvel‘s upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming” are ensuring that Peter Parker’s milieu reflects the world outside your window.
“Community” star Donald Glover is the latest to join the film’s ensemble, which now includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Marisa Tomei, Kenneth Choi and Zendaya. As usual, Glover’s role is being kept under wraps, but maybe it’s one of those rumored villains. Let’s just hope he has more to do in this film than he did in Ridley Scott‘s “The Martian.”
Production on ‘Homecoming’ kicks off soon, but if you need some Glover goodness to hold you over, check out the trailer for his upcoming FX series “Atlanta,” which will start airing in September. [THR]
