After a few stalled efforts and possible projects that didn't quite get moving, Brian De Palma's "Passion" is going full steam ahead, and it looks like it could be his starriest outing since "The Black Dahlia." The film, a loose remake of Alain Corneau's "Love Crime," already has Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace slotted as the dueling leads, and now two more excellent actors are coming aboard.
According to German site MediaBiz (via De Palma A La Mod) Dominic Cooper and Karoline Herfurth have landed roles in the film as well, though it's not clear who they will be playing. The story, which fits right into De Palma's pulpy wheelhouse, tweaks Corneau's film slightly and will focus on a woman who turns to murder when a boss steals her idea. It's basically the dream movie of anyone who has been screwed over by a superior.
For Cooper, this continues his ridiculously busy year with "Summer In February" already wrapped, a role in the upcoming ensemble drama "Cities," with "My Dinner With Herve" and "Half A Yellow Sun" on the horizon. And oh yeah, he also features in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," swinging into theaters this spring. Meanwhile, Herfurth will likely be familiar to most audiences for her turn in "The Reader," but "Passion" will probably be her most high-profile gig yet, bringing her to an international crowd.
"Passion" kicks off filming next month in Berlin.
This film could be Karoline Herfurth's ticket to Hollywood. Another German movie actress Alexandra Maria Lara is already taking steps towards American movies by starring in Ron Howard's motor sport drama.
He's a good actor (Cooper)! I am looking forward to see more movies of him. Too bad I wish I could meet him in person n possibly get his autograph.
I'm excited! "and it looks like it could be his starriest outing since 'The Black Dahlia.'" Since his only movie since then was Redacted, um, yeah…
