While Disney is developing their live action “Winnie The Pooh” with a script from Alex Ross Perry (“Listen Up Philip,” “Queen Of Earth“), Fox Searchlight is taking a “Finding Neverland” approach by deciding to detail the story behind the story.
Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie will star in “Goodbye Christopher Robin.” Penned by Frank Cottrell Boyce (“Millions,” “24 Hour Party People“) and Simon Vaughan (“War & Peace“), with Simon Curtis (“My Week With Marilyn,” “The Woman In Gold“) slated to direct, the film will chronicle the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne (Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother Daphne (Robbie), and his nanny Olive, Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?
A question that will be answered eventually across a feature length film. Or, you could watch Heritage Canada’s take on the same story, condensed into one minute below.
