Margot Robbie has not only established herself as one of the biggest actresses on the planet, but over the last several years, she’s also begun to make a name as a big producer. She’s already been responsible for producing many of the recent films she’s starred in, but in November, she makes the jump into TV as the producer of the upcoming series “Dollface.”
As seen in the new trailer for “Dollface,” the comedy series follows a young woman that finds herself without friends and support when her long-time boyfriend breaks up with her. Now, with the aid of an anthropomorphic cat lady, she must reconnect with her female friends and find that she should have never devoted herself so completely to a guy.
Despite being a producer on the series, Robbie doesn’t actually star. Instead, the series stars Kat Dennings, Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell, and Esther Povitsky. Dennings is probably best known as the star of the long-running CBS sitcom “Two Broke Girls.”
As mentioned, the series features Margot Robbie as a producer with the actress’ LuckyChap production company. “Dollface” is created by Jordan Weiss, who wrote the series. Matt Spicer, the director behind the film “Ingrid Goes West” is the director of the first episode, and longtime TV producer Ira Ungerleider is on board as showrunner.
“Dollface” premieres on Hulu on November 15.
Here’s the synopsis:
Dollface follows Jules (Kat Dennings), a young woman who – after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend – must deal with her own imagination in order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women, and rekindle the female friendships she left behind.
