The trailer for “The Extraordinary Ordinary Life of Jose Gonzalez” has found its way online. Gonzalez is a Swedish folk artist that remained low-key until his cover of The Knife’s “Heartbeats” became a worldwide phenomenon (seriously such a good friggin’ track, both versions).
Frankly, the documentary seems overly ponderous, as the trailer starts off bleakly, with the artist’s head on the desk, lamenting the process and unsure when a natural burst of creativity will hit him next. The animation makes it a little more lively, but just barely. Mikel Cee Karlsson and Fredrik Egerstrand direct. The film’s US premiere is unspecified, and the subtitled trailer is below. — Christopher Bell
